The BYS Concession Stand is a great source of revenue for our programs. After purchasing new food/drink items for the concession stand to sell, all of the profits go right back into the BYS. We are able to take care of the dirt for the fields, electricity and water for our fields, scholarships for BYS players and any other financial needs. BYS is a volunteer-run organization, which allows us to keep our costs to our players' families low. Each team is responsible for 2-3 concession shifts per season. It's a great way to give back to our organization, get to know the other BYS families, interact with our players and families and watch some great baseball on McKelvey Field. During each shift, you are responsible for taking money, and giving customers their orders. You are not required to make hot food, however, if you are interested in doing this, we are always looking for more auxiliary members.
When your team is assigned concession duty, it is a requirement of each team to participate, and the role of the Parent Representative or Coach to make sure that your concession shift if covered. If your team is unable to get families to volunteer, the Parent Representative or the Director of Parent Reps and Volunteers will begin assigning specific families to cover the shift. If we are unable to get volunteers to cover the shift, the concession stand will not be able to remain open during the scheduled time, losing needed revenue for BYS and disappointing spectators and fans.
